From Sakshi Tanwar’s Mai to Shefali Shah's Delhi Crime Season 2, Netflix India shows to hit the streamer this year

New seasons of Jamtara, Masaba Masaba and Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives are also gearing up to hit the streaming giant’s platform soon.

Netflix has etched a dominant position for itself as one of the most popular streaming platforms not just in the country, but in the world as well. And given the list of popular TV shows the platform has brought viewers, its popularity is not surprising. Be it crime thrillers or rom coms, the platform has hosted a variety of shows spanning genres. This year too Netflix is seeking to bring to viewers some intriguing new shows, as well as new seasons of old, loved ones.

Here are the television shows which are expected to hit Netflix sometime this year.

Mai

Sakshi Tanwar stars in the crime thriller as a mother who desperately searches for answers regarding the death of her daughter. Also starring Raima Sen, Wamiqa Gabbi, Vivek Mushran, Prashant Narayanan and Seema Pahwa, the series will premiere on April 15.

Jamtara season 2

Starring Amit Sial, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Aksha Pardasany, the first season of Jamtara revolved around the story of a group of friends who orchestrated a phishing scam in the titular Indian district. It was announced last year that the show will return for a second season.

Delhi Crime season 2

Shefali Shah and Rasika Dugal are set to reprise their roles in the second season of Delhi Crime. The first season focused on the story of the investigation into the brutal rape of a young woman. The show became the first Indian show to receive the award for Outstanding Drama Series at the 2020 International Emmy Awards.

Masaba Masaba season 2

The biographical drama follows the story of fashion designer and actress Masaba Gupta. Gupta herself essays the role of her character, and her own mother Neena Gupta stars as Masaba’s onscreen mother as well. Season 2 had wrapped up filming last year.

Mismatched season 2

Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf return as Dimple and Rishi, the odd couple who try to make their relationship work despite their differences. The series is an adaptation of the 2017 novel, When Dimple Met Rishi written by Sandhya Menon. Season 2 went on floors last year.

She season 2

Aaditi Pohankar is gearing up to make a comeback as officer Bhumika Pardeshi for the second season of She. The crime thriller also stars Vijay Varma, Vishwas Kini, Vishesh Sagar, Kishore Kumar G, and Saqib Ayub.

Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives season 2

The glamorous reality show is back for another season. The show follows the lives of Maheep Kapoor , Bhavana Pandey, Seema Khan and Neelam Kothari, the spouses of popular Bollywood stars Sanjay Kapoor,Chunky Panday, Sohail Khan and Samir Soni respectively. The second season had wrapped up filming in February.

CAT

This revenge drama will follow the story of a man who becomes entangled in a dangerous drug trafficking conspiracy. Directed by Balwinder Singh Janjua, the series stars Randeep Hooda.

Soup

Starring Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sensharma, this dark comedy series revolves around the story of a woman named Swathi Shetty, whose ardent desire is to open a restaurant of her own, despite being an incompetent cook. But what she lacks in skill she makes up for in cunning, as she jumps upon a lucrative opportunity that presents itself. Abhishek Chaubey serves as the show’s creator and showrunner.

Other shows which are expected to be released on the platform next year include Dulquer Salmaan’s debut web series Guns & Gulaabs, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama Heeramandi and the Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati led Indian adaptation of Ray Donovan.
