Move over cheesy rom-coms, Zelda Williams is making her directorial debut with a zomb-com specially curated for lovers of wry humor and horror. Releasing before Valentine’s Day, Lisa Frankenstein is the perfect film for date nights as well as sleepovers. This zombie rom com will mark the feature directorial debut of late Robin Williams’ daughter, Zelda Williams, who is known for voicing Casey on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and directing the comedy short film Shrimp.

Release Date, Cast of Lisa Frankenstein

The film will be releasing theatrically on February 9, 2024, just in time for Valentine’s Day. It will be featuring Kathryn Newton as the titular Lisa, while Cole Sprouse will be starring as her zombie crush. The rest of the cast is comprised of Joe Chrest, Carla Gugino, Liza Soberano, Henry Eikenberry, and Jenna Davis.

Plot synopsis of Lisa Frankenstein

Lisa Frankenstein, scripted by Jennifer’s Body-fame Diablo Cody, the Focus Features production describes the film as “a coming of RAGE love story from acclaimed writer Diablo Cody (‘Jennifer’s Body’) about a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness... and a few missing body parts along the way.”

Focus Features released the trailer for Lisa Frankenstein on October 26, 2023. Earlier in October, director Zelda Williams had also tweeted her inspiration cinema for the film, by sharing a collage of four iconic projects- Weird Science, Death Becomes Her, Edward Scissorhands, and Day of the Dead. The tweet further fanned the anticipation of fans who had viewed the trailer and immediately connected the dots.
