The actor will also produce the film, which will go on floors in July
Likith Shetty’s career has finally found the momentum he has been looking for in his 13-odd years in the film industry. After Sankashtakara Ganapati, a film that he co-produced with a friend, and then Family Pack, for which he collaborated with PRK Productions, Likith did two films in which his involvement was strictly as actor only.
Ababa, directed by KM Chaitanya and produced by actress Ann Augustine, in which Likith is paired with his Family Pack co-star Amrutha Iyengar, is gearing up for a May release, while Love Maduve Ityadi, directed by Kirik Keerthy, has a few days’ worth of work left. Likith is now preparing for a new film, for which he turns producer yet again.
“N Vinayak, who will debut as director with this film, has worked as an associate on several films and had approached me with a subject before Family Pack took off. He had narrated a thriller, a genre I wasn’t too comfortable with, so, I asked him if he had any other stories, which is when he told me about the basic plot line of a rom-com. This sounded quite interesting and I asked him to work on the script, which is now complete. Earlier today, we had a script puja to formally announce the as-yet-untitled project. Vinayak will now work on the screenplay. We are looking at going on floors in July this year, so we are also in the process of finalizing the cast and crew. There have been discussions, but no one is on board formally yet. We will make further announcements in due course of time,” says Likith, adding, “This film with Vinayak will also mark my debut as solo producer.”
