Liger Worldwide Box Office collection day 1: Despite criticism, Vijay Deverakonda’s film earns USD 3.50 lacs gross in USA

Liger has been bashed by both Indian as well as USA audiences.

Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger might not be working as expected in India but the film has been earning in USA. It has managed to mint USD 3.50 lacs gross on day 1. When converted, that is Rs. 2 crores from USA alone.

The overseas distributor Sarigama cinemas have shared the news through a tweet. “#Liger USA Premieres gross $350K+ and counting,” read a part of the post.

Liger has not connected well with the Indian as well as American audiences. The film has been bashed by critics and audiences alike.

However, despite it, the theatres in USA were housefull – at least for the early shows. The trade analysts in India also kept their hopes up from the early shows of Liger but the movie might end up underperforming because it has not been liked by anybody so far.

The movie was expected to mint Rs. 22.2 crores gross in India on its opening day. However, that might be a distant dream for the makers with the current scenario.

The Puri Jagannadh directorial might find it difficult to cope over the weekend given the poor word-of-mouth. The day’s end can only reveal what luck this film has in store.

Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Liger stars Ananya Panday as the female lead. The movie also features Mike Tyson.
