Also starring Ananya Panday in the lead, Liger is a multilingual project helmed by Puri Jagannadh.
Every passing week, the expectation and hype around Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger grows. From the star playing an MMA fighter to the maker’s casting of Mike Tyson, the movie has constantly made headlines. Now, the leading man has stepped up to the plate to drop another bombshell, as he features in a new poster.
The makers released the latest poster for the movie earlier today, and it has Vijay front and center, wearing absolutely nothing to hide his chiseled physique from his fans. The actor can be seen holding a bunch of roses, just enough to hide anything inappropriate from spilling.
As expected, the poster has sparked outrage on social media, with some fans questioning the actor's willingness to appear in the photo, while others simply express their delight at seeing their favourite star, as he left little to the imagination.
Among the many that are occupying social media because of the poster are some big names from the film industry as well. Stars such as Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Anushka Shetty, and co-star Panday have also taken to social media to leave a comment or appreciation.
Priya Mani shared Karan Johar’s post on her Instagram stories and wrote, "I want nothing. Just some roses. Freakin hot. Wild stuff (sic)"
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is Vijay’s co-star in the upcoming romance titled Kushi, also took to her Instagram story, and had a little word of appreciation to pass for the actor.
Anuskha Shetty also shared the poster on her Instagram handle and had a note of wishes for the movie’s makers and its team. "Puri Jagannath garu looking forward to ur magic, vijay wish u only the best ..u out do urself each time, Charmee to many many stories to be told , Karan johar ji Thank u for always being part of beautiful stories to be told always (sic),," she wrote, sharing her best wishes to the entire team of Liger.
The movie will be directed by Puri Jagganadh and will see Vijay essay the role of an MMA fighter. The movie also features Ramya Krishna, Ronit Roy, and Makarand Deshpande in important roles. Made in Hindi and Telugu, the movie is slated for release on August 25.
