Time and again, Vijay Deverakonda has revealed that he is yet to get his paycheck from the makers of the film and that he is also in no condition to help anyone out
Vijay Deverakonda in a still from Liger
Prior to its release, Liger was promoted on a massive scale all over the country. Vijay Deverakonda, Puri Jagannadh, Charmee, and Ananya Panday left no stone unturned to make sure the film reached audiences across the country. The hype was such that the film opened to good numbers. But once the first show ended, Liger was slammed as one of the worst films of the year.
It must be noted that due to Vijay's star power, the Telugu version of Liger was sold at exorbitant amounts. A popular distributor named Warangal Sreenu bought the rights to the film and, in turn, sold them to various distributors. Once the film was declared a flop, everyone lost money, and the exhibitors demanded that Puri Jagannadh make up for the losses. But he slammed the exhibitors and even filed a police complaint against a few of them in Hyderabad.
It's been a while since the release and eventual flop of Liger, and everyone assumed that the issue had been put to rest. But earlier today, some exhibitors went on a hunger strike at the Film Chamber in Hyderabad. Speaking to the press, one of the distributors said, "Warangal Sreenu sold the film to us, but he is currently absconding. So, our only option is to approach director Puri Jagannadh. We beg you, Puri Garu, please settle the issue."
Yet another exhibitor asked leading man Vijay Deverakonda to enter the scene and sort out the issue. Time and again, Vijay has revealed that he is yet to get his paycheck from the makers of the film and that he is also in no condition to help anyone out.
