The upcoming film, directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by Karan Johar, also features boxing legend, Mike Tyson
Liger certainly has stoked the anticipation of Indian cinephiles for a number of reasons, one of them being the involvement of boxing legend Mike Tyson himself. And it seems Ananya Panday is also as excited as the fans for the film.
In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actress opened up about the upcoming action drama, calling it a ‘proper masala popcorn’ that promises to entertain. The Gehraiyaan star said that she grew up watching films of the kind, and said it felt ‘amazing’ that she got to be a part of such a project now.
She also had nothing but good things to say about her co-star Vijay Deverakonda, talking about how kind and relaxed the Arjun Reddy star was on sets. The actress talked about how different a person Deverakonda is from the characters he plays on screen and that it was very ‘interesting’ to see him. She also added that even though Deverakonda is a big star, he never makes anyone feel that way.
The upcoming film is also one of firsts for its stars. In addition to being Deverakonda’s first Hindi film and Tyson’s debut in Indian cinema, Liger will also mark Panday’s debut in South Indian cinema. The film also features Ramya Krishna, Ronit Roy, Ali, Makarand Deshpande, Getup Srinu and Abdul Quadir Amin. Nandamuri Balakrishna will dub Tyson’s lines in the film.
Puri Jagannadh has written and directed Liger, which is produced by Karan Johar.
Liger is slated to be released in theatres on August 25, 2022. The film will release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
