Still of Kavin and Amritha Aiyer in Lift

As we previously heard, the upcoming Kavin and Amritha Iyer horror-thriller, Lift has been facing several glitches on its theatrical release. The distributor of the movie, Ravinder Chandrasekar of Libra Productions, shares deets of the production house’s ongoing issue with the movie’s director Vineeth Varaprasad and its co-production house Ekaa Productions.

According to an ETimes report, Ravinder Chandrasekar said Libra Productions acquired the theatrical rights of Lift in April and paid half of the amount in advance, which is something that has never been done in the film industry before. He talked about the post-production work facing a shortage of money, for which they contributed due to their trust in the team. He said, “The final output was not delivered in the given time, and the corona lockdown has further extended it.”

He explained that Ekaa Productions and Lift’s director Vineeth Varaprasad were in talks to release the movie on a digital platform when they received a massive deal from a popular OTT platform. But according to Ravinder Chandrasekar, the latter cannot go ahead with the OTT release without clearing the dues owed to Libra Productions. He said he considers the delay in clearing the dues will only wreck the soul of the movie and that he will continue to fight for its theatrical release.
