After being postponed multiple times, it looks like director Kannan's Kasethan Kadavulada is finally set to hit screens. The comedy caper will not hit screens for the summer vacation, on May 12 to be precise. Kasethan Kadavulada is a remake of the 1972 film of the same name, and stars Priya Anand and Shiva in the lead.

The supporting cast includes Yogi Babu, Karunakaran, Urvashi, Sivaangi Krishakumar, Pugazh, Thalaivasal Vijay and Manobala. The film was last supposed to release on March 24, but the audience couldn't book the tickets. The team later announced that the release was pushed.
The plot of Kasethan Kadavulada revolves around a young man who gets together with his friends to steal money from his stepmother, a miser. Director Kannan had announced that he was remaking the 1972 classic. The original film, directed by theatreperson Chitralaya Gopu, had Muthuraman, Lakshmi, MRR Vasu, Thengai Srinivasan, Srikanth, Moorthy, Manorama, Rama Prabha and Jayakumari as part of the star cast. MS Vishwanathan scored the music, while KS Bhaskar handled the cinematography and R Gopu, was in charge of editing. The film was bankrolled by AVM Productions.
As for the remake, debutant musician Raj Pratap will be scoring the music and the album will feature a remix of the old song, Jambulingame Jadaadaraa. Cinematography is by Prasanna Kumar. The satellite rights of the new film has been bagged by Sun TV and the digital rights by Sun NXT.
Shiva, in the meantime, has Sumo, Saloon and Golmaal in his kitty. All these films are said to be comedy capers, something which Shiva is known for. Priya Anand is part of Lokesh Kanagaraj's action entertainer, which has Vijay and Trisha in the lead. The shoot for the film is currently underway in Chennai, after the Kashmir schedule.
