There's some fun stuff and heavy duty action too

There are a few new Kannada films in theatres this week, namely Raj B Shetty’s Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye, Abishek Ambareesh’s Bad Manners and Darling Krishna’s Sugar Factory. If a trip to the movie halls does not sound exciting and you’d rather spend the Thanksgiving weekend firmly on your couch, here are some suggestions to check out on OTT. There are no new Kannada originals, but quite a few dubbed ones that you can dig in to.

Leo

Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo was supposed to be the big OTT release last week, but the streamer had other plans. It is definitely headed to Netflix on November 24 and will be available with Kannada audio. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial follows Parthi, a café owner, who is mistaken for a former gangster called Leo, and how that affects his family. The film also stars Trisha, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Madonna Sebastian, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Sarja, among others.

Chaaver

Directed by Tinu Pappachan, Chaaver is a political action thriller, about a bunch of political thugs who commit an abhorrent crime and then go on the run along with an innocent bystander. With the police hot on their tale, moral dilemmas arise among them putting the bystander's fate in peril. The film stars Kunchacko Boban, Antony Varghese, Arjun Ashokan, Sajin Gopu, Sangita Madhavan Nair, Renji Panicker and Joy Mathew (who also serves as writer), among others. The film drops on SonyLiv on November 24.

Sathiya Sothanai

Starring Premgi Amaren and Swayam Siddha with Reshma Pasupuleti, K G Mohan, Selva Murugan, Lakshmi, Haritha and G Gnanasambandam in supporting roles, writer-director Suresh Sangaiah’s Sathiya Sothanai follows the protagonist, Pradeep (Premgi), who stumbles upon a dead body and decides to not only alert the cops about it, but also hand over the deceased person’s valuables. What happens when his ‘good deed’ then leads him to be a suspect, forms the rest of the story. The film will be on SonyLiv on November 24.

Pulimada
The Joju George-led Pulimada dropped on Netflix on November 23. Written and directed by AK Sajan, the film is about the aftermath of a man-eating tiger’s appearance in a village, which leads to unrest in the area. Joju is joined by Aishwarya Rajesh, Chemban Vinod, Lijjomol Jose, Jaffar Idukki, Balachandra Menon and several others on the cast.
