Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo has emerged as a global sensation in the true sense of the term, as the film makes the Top 10 box-office cut in North America over the opening weekend. The Thalapathy Vijay starrer released in theatres worldwide on October 19 and is said to have opened in the USA and the rest of North America (as 'Leo: Bloody Sweet') with over 1000 screens to its name. Reportedly, it's the first-ever Tamil to have such a wide release in North America.

Now, according to Deadline, the action thriller has taken the #8 spot in the October 20 weekend with close to $4.70 million collections across the USA and Canada. Thanks to the fact that Leo released not just in Tamil but also in its dubbed versions of Telugu and Hindi it managed to do well in several major North American cities like New York, Toronto, Seattle, Dallas, Austin, San Fransisco and others.

Leo began its journey in the said region with an impressive $2.14 million in earnings but began to witness a drop over the weekend to finish at the sub-$5 million mark. The film has been distributed in North America by Prathyangira Cinemas and AA Creations.

The box office figures of Leo are quite apparently under the scanner considering that the year thus far has been exceptional for big releases. Kicked-off by Pathaan, 2023 has seen films like Jailer, Gadar 2, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Ponniyin Selvan 2 and others yield extremely good results at the box office. In fact, smaller releases like The Kerala Story, too, have performed well to pave the way for films like Leo, which is said to have breached the Rs. 400 crore mark at the global box office.

Deadline also reports that Bhagavanth Kesari, which was released overseas by Sarigama Cinemas across 450 locations, has concluded its opening weekend in the United States at $1.06 million. The distributors share that the film has broken even in this region within a matter of four days and that the impressive run could fetch better results in the coming days. The Anil Ravipudi film starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sreeleela and Arjun Rampal has been doing really good business back home in India as well with close to Rs. 40 crore net collections.
