Laughing Buddha, the film that actor Pramod Shetty gained a lot of weight for, to get into the skin of the character - constable Govardhan, an overweight policeman with a happy disposition and great love for food. The Neeruru police station’s crime solving rate is largely dependent on Govardhan’s ways with culprits, whom he feeds home-cooked meals to gain their trust, unlike his boss, who’d rather use his fist to get to the truth.

The film is still in theatres, having released on August 30, and is rumoured to be heading to OTT shortly. Prior to the release, producer Rishab Shetty had said that the film was being brought to theaters without the sale of TV or digital rights, but sources suggest that the streaming platform has been fixed.

In the run-up to the same, the team has begun releasing full videos of the songs by composer Vishnu Vijay. Belagge Belagge, the song that gives audiences a clear picture about Govardhan’s love for food and how he uses this with the inmates of his station. The song has been sung by Vijay Prakash.

Laughing Buddha’s central plot revolves around the local MLA becoming the victim of a con job, a case that the Neeruru police has to solve. When the alleged culprit suffers a head injury and wakes up with no memory of who or what he is, Govardhan is called in to see if any of his usual tricks with criminals works.

Pramod was paired with Teju Belawadi in the film that also stars Diganth and Sundar Raj, among others.
