The actor has come out with a statement denying that he is entering politics
Actor Vishal has hit out at rumours that stated that the Nadigar Sangam Secretary was all set to enter politics and that he would be taking on former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu in his constituency.
However, the actor has clarified on his social media that the rumours of him enterting politics is just that, rumours and that his focus would only be on films. He wrote on his social media handle, "I have been hearing rumours about my entry into politics in Andhra Pradesh & contesting in Kuppam constituency. I absolutely deny it, not aware of this at all& nobody contacted me about this. I don't know from where this news surfaced. It's going to be Movies & Movies for me & there is no intention of entering into Andhra Pradesh politics or contesting against Mr.Chandra Babu Naidu (sic)."
Interestingly, Vishal had earlier taken the plunge into politics when he had filed a nomination to contest in the by-elections of RK Nagar constituency as an independent candidate, which fell vacant after the demise of the former Chief Minister of the state, J Jayalalithaa. His nomination paper was rejected by the electoral officers, as he had failed to get the adequate number proposers' signatures.
On the film front, the actor is currently awaiting the release of debutant A Vinoth Kumar's Laththi, which has him teaming up opposite Sunainaa, and Adhik Ravichandran's period gangster film Mark Antony, which features SJ Suryah, Ritu Varma, Sunil Verma and Nizhalgal Ravi. In the meantime, he is all set to make his debut as a director with the sequel to Thupparivalan, Thupparivalan 2. Mysskin, who had directed Thupparivalan, starring Vishal in the lead, had walked out of the film due to creative differences after which Vishal took over. Vishal will be reprising his character in the film along with Prasanna, who was also part of the original.
