Those who are planning to celebrate the New Year and its first weekend indoors, streaming what’s available on OTT, have plenty of options to choose from – especially if Malayalam cinema is what they are looking for.

Payal Kapadia’s acclaimed film All We Imagine As Light is finally set to drop on OTT this week, along with other Malayalam movies such as Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Oshana and Siju Wilson’s Panchavalsara Padhathi. For the theatre-goers, Tovino Thomas’ big-budget action-thriller Identity will mark the first Malayalam release on the big screens in 2025.

All We Imagine As Light

The award-winning film, helmed by Payal Kapadia and starring Malayalam actors Kani Kusruti and Divya Prabha, revolves around two nurses living in Mumbai. How the duo navigates the complexities of life, its loneliness, and longing, in the Maximum City and their journey to get away from the hustle and bustle of it all form the plot of this brilliant film. It’s also a must-watch, considering that the makers of All We Image As Light will also be hoping to bring more laurels to the country at the Golden Globe Awards, held on January 6 and streaming on Lionsgate Play and OTTplay Premium.
