Latest Kannada OTT releases (Sept 9 – Sept 15, 2024) - Here is the list of what you can stream on various digital platforms or watch in theatres this week.

A bunch of Kannada original and dubbed theatrical and OTT releases await in the week of September 9 to 15

This week, there are a few Kannada original films in theatres, but on OTT, two films have apparently been slotted for this week, one of which has already overshot it's initial release date. A bunch of Kannada-dubbed movies have confirmed release dates.

Here's a look at the theatrical and OTT releases from September 9 to September 15

Ronny: The Ruler

Kiran Raj is in the lead in this gangster flick with family drama undertones. Directed by Guru Tej Shetty, Ronny The Ruler is Kiran’s most action-packed film to date and sees him in the title role. Can a gangster reform and is it possible to really cut all ties to the underworld? These are the questions that Ronny faces. The film also stars Samiksha, P Ravishankar, Apurva, Yash Shetty, and Radhya R, among others.

Kaalapatthar

Kendasampige fame Vikky Varun makes his directorial debut with Kaalapatthar, a film in which he plays a soldier called Shankar from a humble village. What happens when the villagers erect a statue of Shankar in his honor is at the heart of this tale. Vikky is paired with Dhanya Ramkumar, while Sampath Maitreya, Rajesh Nataranga, TS Nagabharana, and Achyuth Kumar, among others, are in the cast.

A.R.M

Tovino Thomas’ big Onam release is Ajayante Randam MOshanam, A.R.M, an action-adventure film in which he plays not one, but three roles, set in different time periods. The film directed by Jithin Laal, brings Krithi Shetty to Malayalam cinema, while Aishwarya Rajesh, Surabhi Lakshmi, Basil Joseph, Harish Uthaman, etc. are in the cast. The film will be released with a Kannada version and is being distributed by Hombale Films.

Family Drama

Debutant director Akarsh HP’s quirky comedy about a dysfunctional family’s attempt at taking out a local gangster, for a handsome payout, did not have the expected theatrical response, despite good reviews. The film starring Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy, Rekha Kudligi, Abhay, and Poorna Mysore, among others, was to have dropped on OTT early this week but is yet to make an appearance on the streamer.

Family Drama movie review: Akarsh HP and Abhay deliver on their promise of a quirky comedy with aplomb

Thalavan

The Malayalam original investigative thriller follows two police officers, played by Biju Menon and Asif Ali, one of who becomes a suspect in a murder investigation when a body is found in his home, while the other has to find out if his colleague is a murderer or is being framed. The film directed by Jis Joy is streaming with Kannada audio as well.

Thalavan Review – A well-crafted investigative thriller makes this Jis Joy-directorial a must watch

Mr Bachchan

Ravi Teja is an honest Income Tax officer, who is tasked with raiding the premises of a powerful politician, played by Jagapathi Babu. The film by director Harish Shankar is the official remake of the Hindi film Raid and will stream with Kannada audio.

Mr. Bachchan Review: Ravi Teja is the saving grace of this routine action drama

Roopanthara

Debutant director Mithilesh Edavalath teams up with Raj B Shetty and the gang for a hyperlinked movie with 5 stories and characters who cross each other’s paths. Raj serves as an actor and writer on the film, which also stars Bharath GB, Gireesh Jatti, Lekha Naidu, Salmin Sheriff, and Anjan A Bharadwaj, among others.

Drishyam-maker Jeethu Joseph steps away from the thriller genre for a comedy around a young entrepreneur, whose company is targeted by Income Tax Raids, which throw up tax evasion and other illegal activities. Actor-filmmaker Basil Joseph is in the lead, along with Grace Antony, Swasika Vijay, Manoj K Jayan, Baiju Santhosh, Saiju Kurup, Binu Pappu and Aju Varghese. Streaming is available with a Kannada version.

Raghu Thatha

Keerthy Suresh headlines this film about the anti-Hindi imposition protests in Tamil Nadu in the 60s. She plays a staunch feminist and anti-Hindi imposition activist, who eventually has to sit for a Hindi exam. Also on the cast are Rajeev Ravindranathan, MS Bhaskar, Ravindra Vijay, Rajesh Balachandiran, Ismath Banu, Jayakumar Janakiraman, etc. A Hombale Films production, Raghu Thatha will stream with Kannada audio too.
