Rajamarthanda is the late Chiranjeevi Sarja's last film

Chiranjeevi Sarja had a few films in hand – some in production and others set to take off when pandemic lockdown restrictions eased -when he tragically passed away in June 2020. At the time of his demise, his wife, actress Meghana Raj Sarja was five months pregnant with their first child. Once the immediate shock of his passing settled down, there were questions about what would happen to his films, one of which, Rajamarthanda, was complete, but for the dubbing. Determined not to leave the team in the lurch, Chiranjeevi’s brother, actor Dhruva Sarja promised to help complete the film and dubbed for the late actor’s portions .

Although it was extremely difficult for Dhruva, watching his brother onscreen, he somehow managed to do the job at hand in May last year. Since then, the team has been saying that a release for Rajamarthanda was on the horizon, but there wasn’t a firm date announcement until now. The film, directed by K Ramnarayan and produced by Sivakumar, will be in theatres on October 6, which is Dhruva’s birthday. This, reckon the makers, will be their gift to the Action Prince this year. Chiranjeevi’s birthday also falls in October, the 17th to be precise, but releasing it then would not be feasible, considering that many other films are lined up to take advantage of the Dasara holidays.

Rajamarthanda features not one, but three heroines, namely Deepti Sati, Meghashree and Triveni. The film also stars Bhajarangi Loki, Chikkanna, Devaraj, Sumitra, Shankar Ashwath and Vineeth Kumar, among others. Rajamarthanda has music by Arjun Janya, while Dharma Vish chips in with the background score. The trailer of the film was launched last year by the late actor’s son Raayan Raj Sarja. The little one is also believed to be in the film, although the makers have not revealed how they’ve included him in the narrative.
