Based on the Lal Salaam trailer, it wouldn't be wrong to suggest that Rajinikanth is likely to steal the spotlight from the leading actors.
Fans had to wait longer than expected to watch the trailer of Lal Salaam. The final theatrical trailer for the movie was supposed to be released at 5 PM on Monday but was delayed to 7 PM, citing technical reasons. However, it was not until around 9:30 PM that Lyca Productions was finally able to unveil the promotional video.
Lal Salaam can be termed as an ambitious project in Aishwarya Rajinikanth's career. She aims to solidify her position in the Tamil film industry as a bankable director who can address pressing social and political issues of the time. Films dealing with real-world issues have resonated well with audiences in Tamil Nadu, giving rise to filmmakers like Vetrimaaran, Pa Ranjith, and Mari Selvaraj, to name a few. Can Aishwarya also join the ranks of such socially conscious filmmakers in Tamil cinema with Lal Salaam?
At the audio release event of Lal Salaam, Superstar Rajinikanth explained the meaning of the title, translating to "salute to the revolution." He claimed that the movie addresses an important contemporary issue —maintaining trust and compassion among different communities. The trailer reveals a communally charged atmosphere enveloping a village, with people of different faiths waging war against each other.

Filmmaker-cinematographer Vishnu Rangasamy was a former journalist with a leading Tamil magazine. During his stint as a journalist, he documented a clash between two communities a few years ago, providing a potent plot to develop the screenplay for Lal Salaam in collaboration with Aishwarya. The film's focus on exposing the far-reaching effects of spreading communal hatred is particularly timely.
A village festival appears to play a central role in the narration. According to the trailer, the "chariot festival" holds great significance in the lives of the village residents. However, the festival encounters an obstacle due to political reasons. While politicians attempt to exploit the issue for political gain, the narration also delves into the deeper roles that such social gatherings play in sustaining people's well-being and lives.

While Lal Salaam revolves around the characters of Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, it wouldn't be wrong to suggest that Rajinikanth is likely to steal the spotlight from the leading actors. Despite playing only an extended cameo, judging from the trailer, Rajinikanth is poised to deliver a highly explosive performance loaded with relevant social messages. He portrays the role of Moideen Bhai, a Muslim leader dedicated to achieving communal harmony. While appearing as a peace-loving individual following the path of Gandhi's non-violence, Moideen Bhai has a tumultuous and violent past. Indeed, he bears similarities to the iconic character Baasha.
