With Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth-starrer sports drama all set to hit the big screens this weekend, here are some of the key info about the Aishwarya Rajinikanth directorial
Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth-starrer Lal Salaam is gearing up for its grand theatrical release this February 9. Directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the upcoming sports drama is based on two aspiring cricketers from two different religious backgrounds caught in between the growing communal tension in their region. The film also stars Superstar Rajinikanth playing an extended cameo role as Moideen Bhai.
The trailer of the sports drama takes us through communal harmony and cricket. Rajinikanth plays the role of Moideen Bhai, who is trying to bring peace among people of different faiths in the region. On the other hand, Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth's characters, who are affected by the communal violence, are unable to pursue their passion for cricket. Over all, the trailer hints at delving into sensitive subjects like religious divide and preaches the importance of peace among communities.
The film revolves around two aspiring cricketers who are unfairly kicked off the team despite their talent. How they overcome this setback to achieve their dreams with the help of a noble leader (Rajinikanth) forms the crux of the story.

Written and directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the film stars an ensemble cast including Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles, while Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Dhanya Balakrishna, Jeevitha, KS Ravikumar and Thambi Ramaiah will be seen in supporting roles.
Apart from Superstar Rajinikanth’s extended cameo appearance, the film will also feature legendary cricketer and former Indian cricket team’s captain Kapil Dev in a key role.

Lal Salaam is all set to have a grand theatrical release on February 9. Interestingly, many other films across languages are releasing on the same date, including Ravi Teja-starrer Eagle and Malayalam star Tovino Thomas’ Anweshippin Kandethum. Despite the tough clashes, the Rajinikanth-starrer is expected to do well at the box office.

Although not announced officially, the film’s digital rights have been reportedly purchased by Netflix, and will be available for streaming on the OTT giant post the film’s theatrical run.
The music and background score has been composed by Academy Award-winning maestro AR Rahman in his maiden collaboration with director Aishwarya Rajinikanth. Interestingly, the composer, with the help of AI, used voice models of late singers Bamba Bakya and Shahul Hameed in composing the track ‘Thimiri Yezhuda’ for the upcoming sports drama.

Bankrolled by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions, the Vishnu Vishal-starrer is said to have been made on a whopping budget of over Rs 50 crore.
