Thalapathy 68 will mark Laila's first onscreen collaboration with Vijay.
Laila is quite upbeat about landing a leading role in Tamil superstar Thamalapthy Vijay's upcoming movie, which has been temporarily titled Thalapathy 68. The official announcement of the project coincided with Laila's 43rd birthday celebration. And she took to her social media to share her excitement and gratitude.
"My birthday is always special," she captioned the video, she shared on her Instagram page.
"20 years of Pithamagan. One year of Sardar, the announcement of Thalapathy 68 today. My birthday always gives me something special. And thank you to everyone for the lovely birthday wishes," she said.
AGS Entertainment on Tuesday officially released the video sharing glimpses of the launch event which took place a few weeks ago. The promotions for this project were held back in view of Vijay's recent release Leo.

Five days after the release of Leo, the producers wasted no time in sharing the exciting details of the project. The producers have revealed the full cast and crew of Thalapathy 68.
Director Venkat Prabhu seemingly aims to evoke nostalgia by casting actors who were prominent figures in the Tamil film industry during the 1990s and early 2000s.
Laila was one of the top stars of the 90s. And Thalapathy 68 will mark her first onscreen collaboration with Vijay.
In 2006, Laila married an Iranian businessman named Mehdi and she took a long hiatus from acting. She made her big screen comeback last year with Sardar, which had Karthi in the lead role.

In the meantime, the production of Thalapathy 68 is going in full swing. Besides Vijay and Laila, the movie also stars Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Yogi Babu, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sneha, Jayaram, Ajmal, VTV Ganesh, Vaibhav, Premgi, Ajay Raj, Aravind Akash and others.
