While the movie has made a massive buzz already, it seems like a cloud of controversy is now flying over his empire as new reports suggest that Santoshi has been sentenced to two years in jail and a fine in a case that was against him regarding a cheque. The news is still an unconfirmed report that has surfaced in a local publication. The update has come with a lot of worrisome details about the row.

Rajkumar Santoshi Sentenced To Fine & Jail Sentence?

As per the Desh Gujarat report, Rajkumar has been sentenced to two years in jail and has also been fined by the Jamnagar court in response to a cheque bounce case. The penalty that Santoshi is punished with is said to be double the amount of his bounced cheque. The report reveals that this verdict comes after a local businessman from the district filed a complaint against Rajkumar Santoshi over a bounced cheque and later moved to the court against the filmmaker known for his films like Ghatak, Damini, and more.

What Reportedly Happened?

The report says that Rajkumar Santoshi was looking for capital and also a financier for one of his projects. A Jamnagar-based businessman Ashok Lal, who also happens to be a friend of the filmmaker, came into the scene and lent Santoshi a sum of Rs 1 crore. Rajkumar promised to return it to him and gave him 10 advance cheques of Rs 10 lakh each. All the said cheques bounced due to a lack of money in Rajkumar’s bank account. This led to the businessman approaching the police station and moving to the court.

In the verdict of the same case, Rajkumar Santoshi has been sentenced to two years in prison and a penalty that is double the amount of all the cheques that have bounced.
