Actor Jai is overjoyed by the encouraging response to his debut web series, Label. On Wednesday, he issued a video message thanking the cast and crew and the audiences, who made his maiden venture in the OTT spectrum a big hit.

"I want to thank the audiences for making the Label web series such a huge success. I also want to thank the crew of this web series, including the cameraman, editor, co-director, assistant directors and all technicians. Mainly, I thank Arunraja Kamaraj for creating the character Prabhakaran. He beautifully imagined and executed the series," Jai said.

Filmmaker Arunraja Kamaraj has written and directed this original web series for Diseny+Hotstar. The first season started streaming on November 10 last year and received wide acclaim.

Judging from the trailer, the series delves into the prejudices perpetrated against people living in certain rough neighbourhoods. It intends to shine a light on how it's nearly impossible to change the historical perception of society and how it continues to affect the lives of people across generations.

In Label, Jai's Prabhakaran tries to break the unfair stereotypes associated with his community through legal means. Despite studying and becoming a lawyer, societal attitudes remain obstinate, refusing to recognize his achievements.

It seems director Arunraja Kamaraj has also explored the theme of caste prejudice and its far-reaching effects on one's personal and psychological well-being in the 10-episode series.

"Prabha is never really afraid of any of the labels, except when anyone he knows is in possible danger. But when he’s pushed to the wall, he reacts in the only way he knows. Using the books that helped him cross over to the right side. And, that makes for a fulfilling watch. For it is pretty rare, even today, to see someone not give up who they are, because the situation is difficult," read OTTplay's review for Label.

Label also stars Tanya Hope, Mahendran and Harishankar Narayanan.
