The makers of Laapataa Ladies have responded to their film not making it to the 2025 Academy Awards shortlist for the Best International Feature Film category. While expressing their disappointment, the team remains optimistic, emphasizing their gratitude for the recognition the film has already received.

Aamir Khan Productions, Jio Studios, and Kindling Productions shared a statement in which they acknowledged the disappointment of not securing a spot on the Oscars shortlist. Despite this setback, they expressed immense gratitude for the incredible support and belief they've received from audiences, jury members, and their collaborators. "To be included in this prestigious process alongside some of the finest films from across the world is an honour in itself," the statement reads, reflecting on the significance of the experience.

For those unaware, Kiran Rao, Aamir Khan, and Jyoti Deshpande are behind the scenes in the comedy-drama Laapataa Ladies also known as Lost Ladies internationally. Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Ravi Kishan, Chhaya Kadam, and Sparsh Shrivastava star in the film, which follows two young brides as they travel to their husbands' houses on a train. Both critics and spectators were impressed by the film's plot, screenplay, and acting when it premiered.
