Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha has courted several controversies since the actor had announced its release date. First, it was the call for boycott on social media and then, after the release of the film, the actual implementation of that boycott call which saw the movie struggle to pull people to movie theatres.

Now, according to a news report by Hindustan Times, on Day 10 of its run in theatres, the film continues to do lukewarm business and the threat of being pulled down from cinemas is a threat that is highly likely to happen should the box office figures continue to drop even further, the report suggested.

On August 11, the opening day of the film, Laal Singh Chaddha made a meagre 10 crore INR despite the long festive weekend. On August 20, exactly 10 days after its release, Laal Singh Chaddha managed to amass only 1.5 crore INR, according to the same news report.

Laal Singh Chaddha's overall business in India is around 54 crore INR, according to Hindustan Times, but the film is doing well internationally.

According to a news report by Bollywood Hungama, Laal Singh Chaddha has managed to bring in six million USD (47.95 crores INR/ approx) in the first week of its release itself, thus crossing 2022's two of the most successful theatrical releases thus far: Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and director Vivek Agnihotri's controversial social film The Kashmir Files.

At the time, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 had raked in 5.88 million USD and The Kashmir Files made 5.7 million USD. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt's smash hit Gangubai Kathiawadi is the highest-grossing Indian film overseas with a collection of 7.47 million USD, as stated in the report by Bollywood Hungama.

Directed by Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni, Laal Singh Chaddha also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Manav Vij in important roles.
