Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of the classic Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks.
Bollywood has been known for remakes and now, Aamir Khan is remaking the 1994 classic, Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks. Khan, who is now awaiting the release of the official remake, has revealed that he is curious to see how Tom Hanks reacts to the remake titled Laal Singh Chaddha.
Talking to IANS as reported by Times of India, Aamir Khan said, "Forrest Gump is an iconic film. I am very curious to see how Tom Hanks reacts after watching the film. He is a wonderful actor".
Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump became one of the all time great American movies with time, and became the top-grossing film in America released that year and reportedly earned over US$678.2 million worldwide. The movie also received critical acclaims, and went on to receive 13 Academy Award nominations and winning six of them, including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director.
It was recently revealed that Aamir Khan met Steven Spielberg while he was filming in Germany for Bridge of Spies and that the filmmaker introduced Khan to Hanks. Spielberg also later persuaded Robert Zemeckis, the director of Forrest Gump, to talk to Khan, after the director was reluctant to do so.
Laal Singh Chaddha is helmed by Advait Chandan with an adapted screenplay written by Atul Kulkarni. The makers recently released the movie’s official trailer, which was received by mixed reactions from fans in India.
Backed by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios, the movie also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, Mona Singh and Manav Vij among others. The movie, which has become one of the most-anticipated releases of the year, is scheduled to hit theatres around the country on August 11, 2022.
