L2 Empuraan: A now-deleted post by a UK-based talent agency named Fast and Furious actor Rick Yune as part of the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial, sparking speculation about his role in the franchise
There has been a lot of wild speculation about the actor who’d be seen as a member of the Yakuza in Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming directorial, L2: Empuraan. Ma Dong-seok was one of the earliest names that did the rounds, followed by French actor Eriq Ebouaney, Of course, Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil and Basil Joseph were also likely possibilities according to netizens, which Prithviraj refuted and said that he’s cast actors suitable for the roles in the film. For the mystery man, he had said that fans ought not expect an earth-shatteringly big name and now we hear that the identity of the actor has been revealed.

According to a now deleted post by a global talent agency, their client, American actor of Korean descent Rick Yune, is a part of L2: Empuraan, which they described as a Bollywood movie. Also on board the film is the agency’s Andrea Tivadar, who has starred in shows like Killing Eve, Warrior Nun, among others. The fact that the post about Rick being a part of the film has been deleted has convinced netizens that he is indeed playing Viveik Oberoi’s Bobby’s Yakuza boss, and one of the main rivals of Mohanlal’s Khureshi-Ab'raam’s faction.
Rick's filmography includes roles in Fast and Furious, Snow Falling on Cedars, Die Another Day, Olympus Has Fallen, among others.
L2: Empuraan is the second part in the trilogy that Prithviraj and writer Murali Gopy have planned. The film, which follows the events of Lucifer, is slated for theatrical release on March 27, 2025. The confirmed cast includes Prithviraj, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Saikumar, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, Sachin Khedekar, Baiju Santhosh, among others.
The film is said to have multiple foreign actors on board, given the scope of the narrative. The film has been jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Ashirvaad Cinemas. It was shot across locations in Shimla, Leh, the United Kingdom, the United States, Chennai, Gujarat, Hyderabad, the United Arab Emirates, Mumbai, and Kerala.
