L2 Empuraan, the highly anticipated Mohanlal starrer directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran is currently nearing the final stages of production. Here’s a major update on the release date.

L2 Empuraan, the long-awaited sequel to the 2019-released blockbuster, is nearing the final stages of its production. The extensive Gujarat schedule of the Mohanlal starrer directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, was wrapped up recently. Meanwhile, production designer Mohan Das, who won the Kerala State Film Award 2024 for Best Art Director, opened up about his upcoming projects including L2 Empuraan. Interestingly, the technicians dropped a major update on the Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran project’s release date.

L2 Empuraan to release in March 2024

In his recent interview with the Malayalam media, art director Mohan Das, who is teaming up with Prithviraj Sukumaran for L2 Empuraan, dropped major updates on the project. The talented technician, who revealed that he is currently working in the Mohanlal starrer, stated that the shooting is proceeding. According to the art director, the Lucifer sequel has been slated to hit the theatres by the first quarter of 2024. He further added that L2 Empuraan might be released on March 28, 2024.

Prithviraj Sukumaran films on March 28

For the uninitiated, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial debut Lucifer, which features Mohanlal in the lead role, hit the theatres on March 28, 2024. The movie emerged as the biggest success in the career of both its leading man and the filmmaker at that time. Later, Aadujeevitham, the highly acclaimed survival drama marked the first collaboration of Prithviraj and director Blessy. The movie emerged as the third all-time highest-grossing film of Malayalam cinema, and the biggest solo hit in its leading man’s career.

So, the cinephiles and the fans of Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran strongly believe that March 28, is indeed a lucky day for both the actor and the filmmaker. If things go as planned, the actor-director and his team will wrap up the entire filming of L2 Empuraan by the end of September 2024. After the shooting, Prithviraj is reportedly planning to dedicate over six months for the post-production works and promotions of the film. An official update on the same is expected to be out soon.
