Netflix acquired its post-theatrical streaming rights and premiered the film on the platform in multiple languages last Sunday. Even after its OTT premiere, most viewers didn’t have anything favourable to say about the relationship drama, sharing how the second hour went for a toss after a rather lively start. Audiences weren’t in favour of the Kashmir episode and the dull screenplay too.
However, despite the poor reviews during the theatrical and the OTT release, it is already amongst Netflix top-watched titles in Telugu and multiple versions of the film have found a place in the top 2 positions. While Kushi is by no means a perfect film, it boasts good music, quality cinematography and has an impressive supporting cast chipping in with assured performances.
The film revolves around Viplav, a government employee and the son of an atheist Lenin Sathyam, who gets transferred to Kashmir. He bumps into a Muslim girl and he is head over heels in love with her, only to realise that she is a Kakinada-based woman named Aradhya, who has been faking her identity all along. Viplav and Aradhya decide to marry against the wishes of their parents.
Aradhya’s father foresees a troubled marriage for the couple noticing their horoscopes and his prediction rings true. How will they rise above their ideological differences? Hesham Abdul Wahab scored the music for the film also starring Jayaram, Sachin Khedakar, Murali Sharma, Lakshmi, Ali, Rohini, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna, Srikanth Iyengar and Saranya Pradeep.
