As soon as the makers of Nna Thaan Case Kodu announced that the superhit film will be making its way to Disney+ Hotstar during Onam, many industry analysts took to their social media to say that it’s an unwise decision from the producers of the Kunchacko Boban-starrer, which released in theatres on August 11.

The film, which is also co-produced by Kunchacko, has reportedly grossed over Rs 50 crore at the box office worldwide and is still running to packed houses in certain theatres. While Onam will see the release of three films – Biju Menon’s Oru Thekkan Thallu Case, Siju Wilson’s Pathonpathaam Noottaandu and Kunchacko’s Ottu, Nna Thaan Case Kodu would have benefitted more, considering that the movie has been a favourite among the family audience.

In fact, the film had even surged ahead of Tovino Thomas’ Thallumaala, which had a stronger opening due to its connect with the youth audience, and crossed Rs 50 crore before the latter, which is set to release on Netflix on September 11.

Nna Thaan Case Kodu, which is directed by Android Kunjappan Ver. 5.25 filmmaker Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, has Kunchacko Boban playing a former thief who gets apprehended and humiliated for a crime he didn’t commit. His character then takes the case to the court and files a petition against higher authorities including an MLA and a State minister to prove his innocence. Apart from Kunchacko, the comedy entertainer also has Gayathrie Shankar, Basil Joseph, Rajesh Madhavan, Mridul Nair and Unnimaya Prasad.

Meanwhile, Kunchacko, who will next be seen in the action entertainer Ottu aka Rendagam with Arvind Swami and Jackie Shroff, is currently shooting for an action thriller, helmed by Ajagajantharam director Tinu Pappachan. The big-budget movie, scripted by Joy Mathew, also has Antony Varghese and Arjun Ashokan as part of the cast.
