The shoot of Sureshinteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hridayahaariyaaya Pranayakatha, the spin-off of Nna Thaan Case Kodu, has been going on at a brisk pace in Payyannur and other locations close by.
The latest is that Kunchacko Boban, who essayed the lead character in Nna Thaan Case Kodu, has joined the set of the spin-off. He will be reprising the role of Kozhummal Rajeevan in this romantic comedy-drama that is helmed by Ratheesh Balakrishna Poduval.
This is Kunchako's first film after receiving the Special Jury award at the Kerala State Awards 2023.
Interestingly, the actor began shooting for the spin-off precisely one year after the release of Nna Thaan Case Kodu. To mark the anniversary of the film's release, Kunchacko cut a cake with director Ratheesh and the rest of the crew.
The first spin-off in Mollywood
Sureshinteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hridayahaariyaaya Pranayakatha is considered to be the first spin-off in Malayalam cinema. Rajesh Madhavan and Chithra Nair will also be reprising their roles from the original film.
A video announcing a wedding date and an invitation card of the actors went viral on social media, leading some netizens to question whether it was a promotional campaign for the film or a real-life event.

Ratheesh has written the script and also co-produced the film along with Emmanuel Joseph, Ajith Thalapalli, Jay K, and Vivek Harshan. Sabin Uralikandy, the cinematographer of films like Malik and Badhaai Ho, has been roped in for Sureshinteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hridayahaariyaaya Pranayakatha.
About Nna Thaan Case Kodu
Nna Thaan Case Kodu is a satirical courtroom drama, which tells the story of a reformed thief who fights for justice after being falsely accused of a crime he did not commit.
The film, which was lauded for its situational humour and sharp dialogues, was a social commentary. It did well at the box office and was one of the biggest Malayalam hits of 2022.
Adding to its commercial success, the film also received critical acclamation. It bagged seven awards at the Kerala State Awards 2023, which included Best Popular Film.
