Directed by Tinu Pappachan, Chaaver is a political thriller film releasing soon
Theatres in Kerala are currently running housefull shows of Mammootty’s police procedural Kannur Squad. But there is another highly anticipated film on the horizon. Chaaver an action-packed political thriller starring Kunchacko Boban, is scheduled to be released on October 5. One of the reasons fans are eagerly waiting for the Tinu Pappachan directorial is Kunchacko’s transformation into the lead character, Ashokan.
‘Chaaver is skillfully created by Tinu Pappachan’
In a recent interview with Club FM the actor shared his thoughts on Chaaver and his experience of working on the project. According to Kunchacko, Chaaver is skillfully created by Tinu, based on a script by Joy Mathew. He also stated that the director had taken the film to another level, beyond what was written on paper.
The actor believes that the political themes explored in the film are relevant in any part of the world. Joy is known for his previous works, such as Uncle and Shutter which delve into political issues. Kunchacko added that Joy was particularly thrilled to see his script brought to life by Tinu.
‘The credit for my look in Chaaver goes to the director and crew members’
When it comes to his look in Chaaver Kunchacko said that the credit goes to the director. The actor had to gain weight and use a lot of makeup to transform into the character. Kunchacko also stated that he is not into ‘method acting’, and instead goes by what his director and other crew members have to say. “My makeup, costume and the technical crew’s support helped me transform into that character,” the actor added.
Chaaver’s plot, cast and crew
The story of Chaaver revolves around Ashokan (Kunchacko), who is on the run after committing a political crime. The film also features Antony Varghese, Arjun Ashokan, Manoj KU, Deepak Prambol and Sajin Gopu in key roles. Sangita Madhavan Nair, who is known for her performance in Sreenivasan’s Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala and Nagara Varidhi Naduvil Njan is making a comeback to Malayalam cinema through Chaaver. The film’s technical crew comprises Jinto George (cinematographer) and Nishadh Yusuf (editor).
