Kunchacko Boban and Manju Warrier to star in Lijo Jose Pellissery’s next film

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s upcoming movie Malaikottai Vaaliban, starring Mohanlal, is scheduled to hit the theatres in January 2024

Kunchacko Boban and Manju Warrier are all set to play the lead characters in director Lijo Jose Pellissery’s upcoming film. Scheduled to go on floors soon, the movie is likely to have an ensemble cast. Previously, Kunchacko acted with Manju in How Old Are You? and Vettah which was directed by the late Rajesh Pillai.

Meanwhile, Kunchacko is shooting for an Amal Neerad film , which is touted to be a mass entertainer. Chaaver is his upcoming release, which will hit the theatres on October 5. The film was earlier scheduled to release on September 28, along with Mammootty’s Kannur Squad. The Padmini actor will also be seen in Ezra director Jay K’s feel-good drama, Grrr. The film is in the post-production stage, and will feature Suraj Venjaramoodu, Shruti Ramachandran, Rajesh Madhavan, Anagha and Shobi Thilakan in pivotal roles.

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s film Malaikottai Vaaliban

Lijo’s upcoming release is a period drama, titled Malaikottai Vaaliban. It features Mohanlal as the lead, and promises to be a mass entertainer. Going by Lijo’s earlier works, the film seems to be an experimental project - one which showcases Mohanlal in a new avatar.

During a recent interview with Manorama News Mohanlal spoke about Malaikottai Vaaliban stating that it is a kind of script that has never been attempted in Malayalam cinema before. Poised for a January 25, 2024 premiere, plans are afoot for a big-scale release. Malaikottai Vaaliban also marks the Malayalam debut of Bollywood actress Sonalee Kulkarni.
