The actress is paired with Diganth in the film that releases in theatres tomorrow
Actor Ranjani Raghavan, known for her TV stints such as Putta Gowri Maduve and Kannadathi, is gearing up for an upcoming film release. She would be seen playing a principal role in Kshamisi Nimma Khateyalli Hanavilla, the new comedy-drama that also stars Diganth Manchale and Aindrita Ray. As Ranjani tries to emulate her TV success in the world of films, the actor in her is excited about the roles that are coming her way.
“I play the role of Sowmya in the film – a true-blue Malanadu girl from the town of Nittur. She’s spunky, stubborn, and someone who dreams big despite being from a small town, and I was instantly drawn to the role because it’s starkly different than what I have normally played on screen. I have mostly been this demure, quiet type but the role of Sowmya has allowed me to get out of that mould. She is flawed, immature but certainly not quiet by any means. For this reason, mainly, this part is very special to me. And I have also enjoyed working alongside a lot of talented actors – while I share most of my screen space with Diganth, the rest of the cast too has been wonderful to work with. Plus, I got to take a shot at the Mangaluru Havyaka dialect for the first time. I have known so many people in my personal life from the region and it was fun to reproduce all that on-screen” shares Ranjani.
And while the exciting part was the main draw, Ranjani is also confident that the film’s storyline and treatment will charm Kannada audiences. “I was attracted to the film mainly because of the storyline and how rooted it is in the heartland. There is a sense of belonging and familiarity in the film that we get to see in many Malayalam movies and our audience will definitely spot that. The characters are based on real people and the dynamics between them are very relatable,” adds Ranjani who will have back-to-back releases as another of her outings, ‘Takkar’, comes out in theatres on May 6.
Kshamisi Nimma Khateyalli Hanavilla’ has been directed by Vinayak Kodsara and produced by Silk Manju under the Uppi Entertainers banner. The film releases in theatres on April 29.
