Kroor Sharyat OTT release date: Kannada filmmaker Vilok Shetty’s debut directorial thriller is inspired by the Korean film Blind
Radhika Narayan in Chase, which is releasing as Kroor Sharyat
Chase… In the Dark, is a Kannada thriller that took a few years in the making, and eventually hit theatres in July 2022. Directed by debutant Vilok Shetty, the film, which has Avinash S Divakar and Radhika Narayan in the lead, is an adaptation of the 2011 Korean film Blind, and stays true to the source material to a large extent. When released in theatres, Chase opened to mixed reviews, with some praising the debutant’s handling of the subject and the protagonist’s issues with vision. Others, though, thought that those were the film’s weaknesses.
The original Kannada version of the film is yet to make it to a streaming platform, but a Marathi-dubbed one will shortly be available. Called Kroor Sharyat, the Marathi version of Chase will have its digital premiere on August 23 on Ultra Jhakaas.
Chase…In the Dark review: Radhika Narayan excels in edgy whodunit thriller
The film’s cast also includes Sheetal Shetty, Aravind Bolar, Arjun Jogi, Sushanth Poojary, Rajesh Nataranga, Aravind Rao, Pramod Shetty, Shwetha Sanjeevalu, Rehman Hassan, Veena Sundar, Sudha Belavadi, Usha Bhandary, Sathisha Siddartha, among others.
Kroor Sharyat’s plot revolves around two cases, which, as it turns out are connected – one, a brutal murder in which a woman is chopped to pieces and another, a hit-and-run, with a visually-challenged person as ‘witness’. Piecing the mystery together throws up perils for the witness and impediments for the investigating officer. Whether or not they get to the bottom of it forms the crux of the tale.
Since Chase, Radhika has only been seen in her recurring role as Janani in the Shivaji Surathkal franchise. Avinash, on the other hand, had announced his intention of turning director with a period film called Rudrankusha. An award-winning art director, Avinash, has not officially provided any update on his directorial since then. Instead, he forayed into Kannada television with a lead role in Nanna Devaru, produced by Shruti Naidu, which also stars Mayuri Kyatari.
