The last rites of late actor Sidharth Shukla took place last week, on Friday at the Oshiwara crematorium, Mumbai. Many celebrities, colleagues and friends attended the final rites to pay their last respects to the actor. The media were also present during the entire ordeal, snapping pictures of the celebrities and hounding them, causing a ruckus. Kriti Sanon took to social media and blasted the media for disrespecting the sentiments of the actor’s family at the funeral ceremony in the name of entertainment.
Kriti Sanon posted a story where she criticised the media for making news and entertainment out of another person’s misery. “Said it before, saying it again, STOP covering funerals,” she mentioned in her story on Instagram. Certain media bloggers also came forward to apologise for not respecting the boundaries of the grieving family, which was lauded by the actor. She also addressed the media to cut out their fake sensitivity by giving out one-worded captions and emoticons that said “Heartbreaking” of cold-hearted posts. Her sister, Nupur Sanon also took to her Instagram story, sharing her anger towards the harassment of the media.
Apart from Kriti, a lot of celebrities like Gauhar Khan, Kushal Tandon and Rahul Vaidya among others lashed out at the media houses. Anushka Sharma shared a post of the Youtuber, Zakir Khan where the latter called out the media for their demeaning behaviour at Sidharth Shukla’s funeral.
Many who agreed to Kriti Sanon’s statement, reshared her story to convey their displeasure about the coverage of this entire incident including Athiya Shetty and makeup artist Shraddha Naik.
