In Om Raut's Adipurush Kriti Sanon will play Janaki. Her first film with Prabhas opens Friday. Now, during an interview, Kriti discusses her struggles playing this role before the film's premiere.

The actor plays modern, period, and Indian heartland roles in her films. She told ETimes that portraying a character that is so revered is an extraordinary privilege that rarely presents itself in an actor's career. She thanked Om and Bhushan Kumar for this incredible opportunity. Kriti thinks films and characters pick them. Films and personalities select them, and she is blessed that Janaki selected her.

Kriti attended lengthy sessions and discussions with the director to transform on film. Becoming Janaki was more than just physical; it was about internalising the character. The actor spent a lot of time getting to know Janaki and her emotional journey. Rehearsals and multiple sittings were needed to understand the character's depth and look.

There is an inherent expectation to portray Janaki with the utmost respect and authenticity because she is a figure who millions of people deeply revere and worship. Kriti tackled this task with tremendous care and diligence, along with a lot of love and respect, knowing her value in people's hearts and thoughts.

On talking about working with Prabhas, Kriti had heard he was reserved, and initially he did come across as shy. There was little ice to shatter. She casually mentioned that her first film was a Telugu movie and that it's hard to act in a language she doesn't know, and he started talking. The actor added that Prabhas is humble, kind, and courteous. She couldn't picture anyone else playing Raghav, as he has quiet and expressive eyes.

This is her first green-screen film. Kriti joked with Om that it was her largest film on the smallest set since they shot it in studios. The actor learned a lot by adapting to this filmmaking method. Adipurush has tremendous VFX, and it will be stunning.
