Krishand RK’s Avasavyuham release date: Here’s when and where to watch the award-winning movie

Director Krishand RK’s much-feted The Arbit Documentation of an Amphibian Hunt: Avasavyuham is set to get its OTT release in August. The Kerala State Award-winning film’s OTT rights have been bought by Sony LIV and it will begin streaming soon.

Written by Krishand and Renoy Scaria Jose, the movie has a host of relative newcomers as part of the cast. Ajayaghish, Sreejith Babu and Sreenath Babu play the pivotal characters in the film, which is set on an island in Kochi.

Told in a different narrative style that blends dark humour along with surreal elements, the movie also caught the attention of viewers when it was showcased at this year’s International Film Festival of Kerala.

Avasavyuham revolves around its protagonist Joy, who metamorphosizes into something that is beyond a man. The movie then goes on to tell a tale that is mixed with “myth, divinity and disturbing ecological disruptions” to show that Joy might not just be an ordinary man. The film was also praised by critics for addressing environmental issues through its engaging storytelling.

In an interview with The Cue earlier this year at the IFFK, Krishand had said that the major challenge of making the film was finding a producer and convincing them about the concept. “If I would have told them, they would have got artistes and this would have become a bigger project,” he said. “But every producer would ask for either a synopsis or a logline; the film is much bigger than all that. So, when I reached a stage where I could explain it further I got co-producers.” The filmmaker also said that once a big studio becomes part of a project, creativity will be limited as a writing team might take over.

Avasavyuham will begin streaming on Sony LIV from August 4.
