The film directed by debutant Devan will also have versions in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi
Valatty, a film by debutant director Devan, is a love story, but one involving a bunch of four-legged furry canines. The film also addresses the stray dog menace, which has once again become an issue after a child was mauled to death recently, while also placing arguments from the side of the animals.
And what makes it extra special is that leading stars of the Malayalam industry have provided voice talents to the doggies. While the makers had kept the names of the actors voicing the dogs under wraps till now, the trailer that came out two days ago revealed Soubin Shahir, Indrans, Sunny Wayne, Roshan Mathew, Aju Varghese, Ranjini Haridas and Mahima Nambiar are all part of Valatty. Rohini, Akshay Radhakrishnan and Vijay Babu will also be playing characters in the film, which is set to hit theatres on July 14.
Valatty, meanwhile, is getting a pan-India release, with versions in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi and taking the film across the globe is Bengaluru-based KRG Studios. Karthik Gowda of KRG took to social media to confirm the development, writing, “Thrilled to pick this unique & cute film “Valatty” for entire world except the state of Kerala. Releasing on July 14th in Malayalam & a week later in all other languages.”
The director also said that the entire film is told through the perspective of dogs, unlike the recent superhit Kannada film 777 Charlie. “Films about dogs and pets, in general, aren’t explored in our industry. 777 Charlie was more from a human’s perspective but Valatty is entirely from dogs’ perspectives. That said, it was great to see a film that also had an animal at its core receive that kind of reception,” he had told OTTplay.
