Aside from the glaring poor reviews, one could also attribute the slightly rocky start to Pathaan's incredible take-off at the box office
Kranti opened in theatres on January 26th amid tremendous anticipation and scrutiny. With the Challenging Star returning to the big screen after a gap of nearly two years, his hardcore fans had built their hopes up for a solid entertainer that was of their money's worth. And with the pre-release promotions of the film being quite scandalous and high-profile, one certainly did keenly look forward to watching Darshan on the big screen.
The opening reviews, however, have been underwhelming with most critics bashing the 'old-wine-new-bottle' kind of approach from the team. While the ardent fans of the superstar have chosen to back the film despite its many shortcomings, the general verdict isn't all that encouraging and now, as a result, one turns towards the box office to see how the negative reviews impact the theatrical run. Kranti's box office collections for Day #1 are out now.
According to the popular trade website sacnilk.com, Kranti has managed to collect approx. Rs. 9 crores (net) on the opening day of its release (Jan 26th) with Day #2 expected to encounter a massive slump. The same source suggests that Kranti is likely to earn close to Rs. 3.5 crores on the second day of its theatrical run which comes as a whopping 38.8% dip in collections.
And with advance bookings for Days 2, 3 & 4, which account for the opening weekend, too reflecting similar results, one can surmise that it's a hard road ahead for team Kranti. Most theatrical shows in Bengaluru and other urban centres of Karnataka are running empty, according to a popular ticketing platform.
Aside from the glaring poor reviews, one could also attribute the slightly rocky start to Pathaan's incredible take-off at the box office. With the Shah Rukh Khan starrer commanding a significant amount of theatrical space and audiences, too, responding very well, Pathaan seems to be the go-to choice for moviegoers in the majority of urban regions in Karnataka. And with Kranti not boasting a national release, the Darshan starrer will now find the Pathaan threat looming larger than ever.
