There were rumours in the industry that director Shashank’s upcoming film Kousalya Supraja Rama also starred Milana Nagaraj, beside Darling Krishna and Brinda Acharya. The team, though, did not confirm this until recently, when the trailer of the film came out and featured a shot of Milana towards the end.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, Shashank has gone ahead and released a song featuring the actress, albeit as a lyrical video, with only fleeting visuals from the actual footage. Called 90 Haaku, this is a ‘party number’ or rather ‘enne song’, which is a standard trope in a lot of Kannada films. This time around, though, the drinking and dancing is up to Milana in the song sung by Aishwarya Rangarajan and composed by Arjun Janya.

The actress has been trying to avoid doing too many films with her husband, Krishna, but Shashank insisted that she ought to do the role as he believed only she could do justice to it. At a recent public event for Kousalya Supraja Rama, Milana had addressed her frequent pairing with Krishna, which often pops up on social media.

“I have a problem now. When filmmakers meet Krishna for story narrations, I also sit in as part of the discussion. They then come back a few days later, and would still be on the lookout for a heroine. So, they ask Krishna if I would be willing to do the role. He will then suggest that they speak to me and the conversation usually goes like, ‘Milana, will you do the role? You can only do it, right?’ Honestly, it’s become like a buy one get one situation – you come for Krishna and get me too,” she had said.

As for this film, she added, “I told Shashank sir that I was not confident that I could pull off the role and there was a lot of to and fro between us and it seemed that I would not do the film, after all. But then he said that this is a character that needed an experienced artiste with acting prowess and that is why he insisted I do it. That was the clincher for me.”
