Kousalya Supraja Rama is director Shashank’s 10th film and one that he considers among his best works to date. The film, which has Darling Krishna in the lead, is set to be in theatres on July 28, in the run-up to which, the filmmaker revealed the trailer, which provides a more in-depth understanding of his leading man. The trailer was launched by Kiccha Sudeep at an event in Bengaluru.

Rangayana Raghu, who plays Krishna’s father in the film, is Siddegowda, a man defined by his chauvinistic ways, which he inculcates in his son too. The boy, Rama, grows up with a disdain towards women, but then Shivani (Brinda Acharya) comes into his life. Will Rama see the flaw in his attitude towards women and reform or will he continue with his ways? This is what Shashank has revealed in the trailer, which dropped moments ago.

Kousalya Supraja Rama, the filmmaker had said, is a love story at its core, but the relationship between Rama and his mother Kousalya (Sudha Belawadi) is also a major cornerstone of the narrative. In fact, Shashank has said that he believes that Kousalya is one of the best roles Sudha has ever done. Nagabhushana and Achyuth Kumar also have pivotal roles in the film that Shashank has co-produced with BC Patil. “This is a story that has been put together from instances that happen to day-to-day life in society. All the characters have been written in a way that you will feel that you have met someone like that in your neighbourhood,” Shashank had told us earlier.

The film is an Arjun Janya musical, with three songs in the public domain so far. The first was the romantic number Shivani, which, to date, is the most popular song from the film, followed by the Sonu Nigam sung Preethisuve and the title track.
