Benoit Blanc will return soon to bring yet another criminal to justice. It was announced that Knives Out 2 is scheduled to be released in the second half of this year.

According to a report in Variety, the makers plan to premiere the film at a few festivals before its theatrical and streaming release. The details regarding which festivals it would be screened at were not released.

The upcoming film is a sequel to the 2019 film, which saw a detective trying to get to the bottom of a case involving the murder of Harlan Thrombey, a wealthy crime novelist. Under the lens, we see Harlan’s large and dysfunctional family as well as his nurse. Knives Out is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. The film had originally been distributed by Lionsgate.

The film starred Daniel Craig in the role of detective Blanc, and he will reprise it in the upcoming sequel. Other cast members of Knives Out 2 include Kathryn Hahn, Ethan Hawke, Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr. Jessica Henwick, and Madelyn Cline, among others. The film completed production in September 2021, and plot details are being kept under wraps.

Rian Johnson, who served as writer and director for the first instalment, returns to helm the sequel. He has received an Academy Award nomination for Best Screenplay for his work on the 2019 film. Also returning for the sequel are the original’s cinematographer and editor, Steve Yedlin and Bob Ducsay.

An exact release date for Knives Out 2 has yet to be announced.
