Kishmish: Actor Jisshu Sengupta calls Dev and Rukmini starrer, ‘sweet tale of love’

Kismish is an upcoming Bengali movie starring Dev and Rukmini Maitra that is directed by Rahool Mukherjee. The film will see the two collaborating on-screen after the film Password, which was released in 2019. And as the release of the film is nearing, the fans are growing impatient for more details about it with each and every passing day.

And today, the makers have shared a video through their Instagram handle, which features famous actor Jisshu Sengupta. He’s seen introducing the characters and the story of the love and longing of Dev and Rukmini. He calls it, ‘a sweet tale of love’. The caption of the post, written in Bengali, roughly translates to: ‘Here’s your favourite star, Jisshu Sengupta, whom you love and admire so much, speaking about his love for the film Kishmish’.

From its glimpses, it definitely feels like Kismish is going to be a young, fun-filled, light-hearted romantic ride. Dev and Rukmini Maitra are doing everything to promote their upcoming release. The leading pair even took a metro ride and appeared on a popular TV game show to celebrate the launch of the music album of the film, composed by Nilayan Chatterjee.

Kishmish is already winning hearts and applause among the fans with its exciting 2D animations and a fresh storyline. It promises to deliver the beguiling yet enchanting effects of romance and longing between two people. The trailer, which was released recently, shows Dev and Rukmini in four different characters from different timelines from age 18-to 45 years. Dev had to lose almost 15 kgs to play the role of a college-goer in the movie.

Incidentally, Dev’s last year’s release Tonic created new history at the box office and it brought back the Bengali cinema-goers into the theatres. The film is declared an ‘All-time blockbuster’ at the box office and the second highest-grossing film of 2021 in Bengali cinema. And the fans are eagerly waiting for yet another surprise.

Meanwhile, Kamaleshwar Mukherjee who directed Password, the last movie of Dev and Rukmini, will be essaying the role of Rukmini’s onscreen parents along with and June Maliah.

Kishmish is releasing on April 29 in theatres.
