Kishkindha Kaandam, the mystery drama film that stars Asif Ali, Vijayaraghavan, and Aparna Balamurali in the lead roles, has emerged as a major critical and commercial success. The movie, directed by Dinjith Ayyathan, is now marching towards the Rs. 50 crore of the Malayalam film industry. The mega success of Kishkindha Kaandam has left both the film industry members and netizens highly excited, and the cinephiles are now comparing the film with Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph’s iconic film, Drishyam.
The cinephiles, who are highly impressed with the Asif Ali starrer suggest that the movie has many similarities with Drishyam. However, it is not in terms of the plot or theme, but the similarity is in the way how both the films hit the theatres with zero expectations, and emerged as major blockbusters.
The netizens point out that both Drishyam and Kishkindha Kaandam are extremely well-made thrillers, that emerged as two of the best films made in the genre, in Malayalam cinema. Some also believe that the Dinjith Ayyathan directorial might also get remade soon in all Indian languages, just like the Mohanlal starter.

The movie is also getting compared to other fine thrillers, including Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Memories, directed by Jeethu Joseph himself. “Memories level undo!? Drishyam level undo!? Soon gonna hear Kishkindha Kaandam level undo! Three of the finest thrillers ever made,” wrote a cinegoer, who is highly impressed with Kishkindha Kaandam.
“Kishkindha Kaandam and Drishyam comparisons are an inevitable thing. Kishkindha Kaandham technically excels without any loose ends, but what gives Drishyam the edge is unreal repeat value and entertainment quotient. Repeat value of Kishkindha Kaandam can't be predicted right now,” a cine-goer remarked.
