Samyuktha Hegde, who debuted in Kannada cinema with the Rakshit Shetty-starrer Kirik Party and went on to star in College Kumara and the upcoming Thurthu Nirgamana, has signed up for her next here. The actress, who has been busy with films in Tamil, has been signed up to lead debutant director Abhishek Basant’s social thriller Kreem, which has been written by Agni Sreedhar. Abhishek, incidentally, is currently assisting director Shoonya on Head Bush, which is also based on Agni Sreedhar’s book about former don MP Jayaraj.

According to reports, Samyuktha agreed to be a part of the film because she is the hero of the tale. While she is thrilled to be a part of a film written by Agni Sreedhar, the clincher for her was that she will get to play a character who is a lot like her in real life. The title of the film, she was quoted as saying, can be interpreted as cream, in reference to the top layer, or Kreem, a mantra related to Kali, who is considered the fiercest form of the feminine avatar.

The team apparently zeroed in on Samyuktha based on her general persona, dance and acrobatic skills, among others, which they felt made the role tailor-made for her. The character Samyuktha will essay when the film goes on floors in April is that of a girl who is fierce, determined and her own person. The film will be produced by DK Devendra’s Sumvardini Productions.

Meanwhile, apart from the Sunil Raoh starrer Thurthu Nirgamana, which was due for release shortly before the pandemic broke in 2020 and has been delayed since, the actress will also be seen in a special dance number in Shreyas Manju’s upcoming Raana.
