King update: Abhay Verma lands pivotal role in Shah Rukh Khan-Suhana Khan's action-packed thriller

Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana are set to star in the high-octane thriller King with Abhishek Bachchan cast as the antagonist.

Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan are collaborating in a first-of-its-kind way on Sujoy Ghosh's King which Siddharth Anand also co-produces. Along with Anand and Mamta Anand's production firm, Marflix, SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment is producing the action-packed thriller. The trio of SRK, Siddharth, and Sujoy has reportedly cast Abhishek Bachchan as King's nemesis, according to a prominent portal. Furthermore, the most recent report suggests that Abhay Verma will play a significant role in King.

Abhay Verma's significant role

The King production team has cast Abhay Verma, of Munjya fame, to play a pivotal role in the thrilling thriller, an insider told Pinkvilla. The actor's performance in Munjya has received a lot of praise, and it shows in the offers he's getting. Along with SRK and Suhana, he has landed a significant role in King. A source familiar with the project told the entertainment portal that Abhay is excited to venture into this tentpole feature film. The source continued by stating that the details of the characters remain undisclosed.

According to a source, the casting for King is now underway. Producers have already decided on locations in India and elsewhere to film the film, and the script is also in the can. The production team is currently in the final stages of casting Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan, among others, in an ensemble role. They hope to begin filming in November 2024 according to the source.

Plot and production details

King which stars SRK in an intense and gritty action role, is considered an unprecedented action thriller. In the film, we see SRK and Suhana's mentor-protege relationship as they face off against Abhishek Bachchan, a villain. The crew has enlisted some of the top personalities from across the world to create the action scenes, while Anirudh is responsible for King's music and background soundtrack.
