Shabeer Kallarakkal, of course, is best known for his role as Dancing Rose in Pa. Ranjith's sports drama Sarpatta Parambarai,
Director Narthan's second project Bhairathi Ranagal carries a lot of promise for multiple different reasons. For starters, the film comes as a spin-off/prequel to the 2017 film Mufti, which Narthan directed (debut film) and starred Shiva Rajkumar and Sriimurali in lead roles. One got to see Shivanna in an enterprising, gritty role as the crime lord Bhairathi Ranagal and the success of the film warranted further exploration of his character along with a remake in Tamil (Pathu Thala, starring Simbu and Gautham Karthik).
More importantly, Bhairathi Ranagal, the upcoming film, marks Narthan's return to the fore after a gap of six years. Despite the long break, one would recall that the filmmaker remained in the news but largely for his slightly ill-fated collaboration with Rocking Star Yash. Narthan and Yash were famously linked to work on a film after KGF2 but things could not fall into place for some reason - however, the latter is back in action now and the Kannada film audiences are keen to know what he has to offer with Bhairathi Ranagal.
Rahul Bose, Rukmini Vasanth and others - An exciting ensemble in place
But it is for sure that Narthan is pulling out all stops for his comeback project. Not very long ago, it was revealed that popular Hindi film actor Rahul Bose has been roped in to play a key role in the film - most likely that of an antagonist. This would be Bose's second Kannada film after Apoorva Kasaravalli's Nirtuttara (2016), so it would be interesting to see how he fits the bill of this crucial role in Bhairathi Ranagal.
Bhairathi Ranagal: Rahul Bose set to face off Shiva Rajkumar in the Narthan directorial
Rukmini Vasanth, who awaits the release of multiple films (Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, Baandariyalli and others), is also a part of Bhairathi Ranagal's principal cast, but there is no clarity regarding the character she plays.
And joining the two is Tamil actor Shabeer Kallarakkal, who is best known for playing the alluring Dancing Rose in Pa. Ranjith's Sarpatta Parambarai. The makers of Bhairathi Ranagal, Geetha Pictures, took to social media very recently to produce announce that Shabeer will be part of the project for, assumedly, an important part.
Who is Shabeer Kallarakkal?
Although Shabeer found prominence with his performances in films like Sarpatta Parambarai, 54321 and Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, the actor is regarded highly within the film circles for the vast experience he boasts as a theatre performer. His first on-screen appearance is said to have come almost two decades ago in Mani Ratnam's Aayutha Ezhuthu but his first starring role came a decade later when he played the lead in Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathe. Slowly but surely, Shabeer Kallarakkal, who remained a theatre artiste all throughout, made his presence felt in cinema and is now reaping the benefits.
He will be next seen alongside Dulquer Salmaan in the much-awaited mass gangster film King of Kotha in the role of Kannan.
