Movie buffs were in for a surprise when Santhanam announced that he is teaming up with Kannada filmmaker Prashant Raj for Kick. The movie's cast includes Brahmanandam, Kovai Sarala, Senthil, Manobala and Thambi Ramaiah among others essaying pivotal roles. Tanya Hope was roped in as the female lead of the project.

Sandalwood actors Ragini Dwivedi and Sadhu Kokila play cameo roles in the movie which has been bankrolled by the director's brother Naveen Raj. The film has hit the screens today across Tamil Nadu.

Arjun Janya has composed music for Kick which has cinematography by Sudhakarr S Raj. Nagooran Ramachandran has edited the movie while Mohan B Kere has helmed art direction. Ravi Varma and David Castillo have composed stunt choreography, and the dance choreography has been monitored by Kula Bhushan and Santhosh Sekar.

Billed as a comic caper, it revolves around an ambitious ad filmmaker who indulges in fraudulent activity. How he tries to gain back his lost goodwill and career forms the rest of the story. The movie was opened to mixed reviews from film buffs as the supposed comedy sequences ended up flat.

Disney+ Hotstar has bagged its digital rights; the film is expected to have its OTT premiere in the last week of September. An official announcement on the date will be announced in a couple of weeks. Kick is Santhanam's second outing this year after DD Returns which started streaming on Zee5 today.

It was the success of DD Returns that made the makers of Kick announce its theatrical release date in advance. Their initial plan was to release it in August, but the success of Jailer made them push it to September 1.
