Kick-Ass movie reboot coming in two years says director Matthew Vaughn

The filmmaker also reveals that the reboot is going to be “nuts” and will need brave actors.

Kick-Ass came out in 2010 when the world was not as warm and appreciative of the superhero genre. The black comedy action film was directed by Matthew Vaughn and was an adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.’s comic book Kick-Ass.

Now after over a decade, the filmmaker has talked about a reboot for the movie. In an interview when asked about Kick-Ass Vaughn told Collider, “We’ve got a big reboot of Kick-Ass in two years. Big reboot.”

The director added that it’s so “nuts” that he can’t talk about it and that they’ve got it ready to go. Vaughn also said in the interview that the movie is not going to be what anyone can imagine and that he will need a brave actor to play the new Kick-Ass.

When the original Kick-Ass movie came out, it was nothing like the PG-13 comic book. The movie was full of foul language, blood and gnarly kills. The movie also saw the breakthrough performance from a young Chloë Grace Moretz as Hit-Girl.

Kick-Ass also featured Nicolas Cage as Big-Daddy and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and the movie was received by some fans with great thrill while others condemned the movie for its style and content.

The movie did achieve a post theatrical love which led to a sequel for the movie being made in 2013. With the success of recent R rated superhero movies like Deadpool, Deadpool 2 and Logan Vaugh can expect more for a Kick-Ass reboot.
