The Kannada superstar’s friend and manager Manjunath Gowda is making a film with director JD Chakravarthy with Nagashekar in the lead.
Earlier in the day, producer-distributor Manjunath Gowda, better known in industry circles as Jack Manju, called for an emergency press briefing on his next. The filmmaker, whose last project was Kiccha Sudeep’s Vikrant Rona, is collaborating with director JD Chakravarthy on a film with Nagashekar in the lead, called Paadaraya. While netizens were intrigued by the announcement, since Jack is considered Sudeep’s right-hand man and friend, the fact that the Kannada superstar tweeted to wish the team of Paadaraya all the best had them wondering what the status on his next, is.
Soon enough, #Kiccha46 was trending on social media, as fans responded to Sudeep’s tweet with questions about his next and how they’ve been waiting patiently for word on the same. It’s been well over four months since Vikrant Rona came out and Sudeep is yet to officially announce his next acting gig. During the promotions of Vikrant Rona, he had said that he was looking at collaborating with director Anup Bhandari on multiple projects, including Billa Ranga Baashaa, Ashwathaama and a possible Vikrant Rona sequel. Since the release, though, there’s been no word on any of this. While the team has been claiming that Vikrant Rona is a Rs 250 crore blockbuster, industry insiders claim that the film did not even make half that amount.
Sudeep had also teased the possibility of a collaboration with Mankatha and Maanadu maker Venkat Prabhu earlier. The filmmaker had met the Kannada superstar in Bengaluru, and had posted about it on social media. Speaking to an online publication, Sudeep had also confirmed that a film with Venkat would be on the cards. “I am excited to work with Venkat; it’s a brilliant script,” he had said. There have also been rumours that renowned production house Sathya Jyothi Films has a two-film deal with the actor. This has not been officially confirmed though.
So, as we await word on the project that he will pick next, the actor will be seen onscreen in R Chandru’s upcoming gangster flick Kabzaa, in which he plays a pivotal role as Bhargav Bakshi.
