The duo played father and son in the 2010 Ram Gopal Varma directorial
When the whole world is sharing and discussing the trailer of Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep’s upcoming fantasy-action-adventure thriller Vikrant Rona, can Amitabh Bachchan be far behind? A little while ago, the senior Bachchan tweeted “Kannada star SUDEEP .. a pan india film VIKRANT RONA in 3 D .. releasing in 5 languages on July 28 th,” along with the link to the Kannada version of the trailer.
Considering that Amitabh Bachchan and Sudeep have worked together more than a decade ago, when they played father and son in Ram Gopal Varma’s Rann, there should not be anything amiss with the tweet. It could be a goodwill gesture from the veteran actor. Twitterati, though, is reading a lot into the language of the tweet. Given that Amitabh has not wished, but only announced the trailer with the Kannada link and not the Hindi one, which officially came out four days ago, they reckon that he has been paid to tweet. “Seems paid one, he is not wishing but announcing,” wrote a user, a sentiment that was echoed by several others who responded to the Big B’s tweet.
Of course, Sudeep and Vikrant Rona fans jumped to his defence saying that he does not need to pay anyone to tweet when he has the support of none other than Salman Khan himself. “This is not paid actually, why the team should approach Big B, when they already have salman khan,” wrote a user.
Kiccha Sudeep is currently in the middle of promoting his next, the Anup Bhandari directorial Vikrant Rona, which is coming to theatres in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and English on July 28. The actor has toured the four south metros and Mumbai for the trailer launch and is expected to do more in the days to come. The film has music by B Ajaneesh Loknath and features Anup’s brother Nirup Bhandari as well as Neetha Ashok in pivotal roles.
